Members / Course Change Policy
The Council has laid down a formal procedure for whenever major changes
to the course are proposed.
The procedure is aimed at ensuring that any major changes are done
only after proper consultation with the members and that these changes
will ultimately improve the course.
The procedure is as follows:
- The Greens Convener (or whoever is proposing the change) submits
a written proposal to Council, including if possible drawings, sketches,
measurements, costs etc, and full details of the proposed change.
A case is then made for the change, detailing the benefits/improvements
etc.
- At this point, the Council will decide whether the proposal is
to be approved in principle or rejected.
- If the proposal is approved in principle, then full details of
it will be posted on the Greens notice board for a period of at least
six weeks so that members can examine it and make written comments
to Council.
- The proposal and the members’ comments will then be brought
back to Council where a final decision will be made as to whether
or not to carry out the proposed change.
Notes:
- The above procedure will be applied only to “major”
changes in the course. These are defined as adding a new bunker, removing
an existing bunker, building an entirely new tee, building an entirely
new green. Ongoing work on the course such as rebuilding an existing
bunker or re-laying an existing tee or re-shaping a fairway would
not be regarded as “major” change and therefore will not
be subject to the procedure.
- The majority of construction work will be carried out during the
winter. Proposals for change should therefore be submitted to the
Council before July each year to ensure that, if approved, they can
be included in the winter programme for that year.
