Update - January 2012
Overview
Over the past few weeks the greens staff has been working through the winter
program as well as other regular winter activity.
Unfortunately there has been no further progress on the installation of the new path at the 7th hole. The ground has remained too wet to compact the sand prior to laying the final surface. However there is only 1-2 days work required to complete the installation given the correct conditions, so this is not a huge concern at present.
The condition of the 2nd green is causing some concern. It has remained very wet over the past few weeks (unusually so). It is suspected that there has been a change in the underground conditions (springs) over the past few months. A drain is currently being installed along the base of the bank at the rear of the green. This will continue down the right hand side of the green and exit over the cliff at the rear of the 3rd tee. This should be complete within the next few days. We will monitor the condition of the green thereafter.
There has been some additional tree damage in the gully following another period of high winds.
Welding work is complete on the drain to be installed at the top of the path into the gully. This will be installed over the next couple of weeks. Some remediation work will also be done on the path.
There has been some mole damage throughout the course over the past month, although not as bad as in some previous years. Traps have been set in order to control the extent of the damage.
In the next month a soak-away will be installed at the rear of the 3rd green.
The car-park has be relined.
All benches have now been stained, tee pegs and white stones painted.
Vertidraining of all fairways (6" depth) has started with the 9th, 12th, 11th and16th complete. This will continue over the next month.
All tees have been spiked.
Aker solutions logo'ed course furniture is showing signs of wear and tear. We need
to consider pursuing Aker for replacements. Also considering replacing bunkers rakes throughout the course as many are in poor condition.
